It’s the kind of thing that was never really a problem before, back in the olden days of gaming: you were player 1 if you were plugged into the first slot on the front of the console, and you were player two if you were in in the second slot.īut when consoles made the jump to wireless controllers, we required a way to tell the controllers apart. One of my favorite things about the Xbox 360 controller was how it dealt with the issue of letting players know which controller was for which player. You pressed it to turn the console on, held it down to shut the console off, and it served as a “home” button of sorts to take you back to the main menu. The Xbox button was the core of the console’s interface. Microsoft eventually fixed the Xbox button on the next generation of the controller for the Xbox 360, featuring it as a central part of its design: a 3D button emblazoned with the Xbox logo in all its neon green-glowing glory. It’s the anti-button: big, glossy, attention-grabbing, and completely useless. The main one is that the giant Xbox logo in the middle doesn’t actually do anything. There are many baffling design decisions on the Duke, the original Xbox controller. Button of the Month will look at what some of those buttons and switches are like on devices old and new to appreciate how we interact with our devices on a physical, tactile level.

Doubtful, but could this be patched in a firmware update? Occasionally frustrating when it doesn’t register the A button press. In today’s digital age, it sometimes feels like hardware has taken a back seat to the software that drives our devices. I love the controller, but the fact that it too has a Was gifted an Elite 2 and i was hoping that would solve this problem. All was well for a little while, but i definitely noticed the weak A button. That also worked briefly untilįinally bought a brand new white xbox one controller. I put up with it briefly and then bought an open box off ebay. Then it started to show signs of drift and the A button press not registering. The first controller i got, a wired, third party one, was fine for about a month. Year finally after it had taken too many beatings. Strange bc the controller that came with my Xbone was great and lasted me like 5 years. Had a similar problems with two previous controllers. I came here bc I’ve been having problems with my Elite 2 controller and its A button. My question is, is this normal behaviour for these controllers ? If it's not I find it quite odd that all our controllers that came with new consoles are deffective. I also see posts about people returning their controllers for a replacement but getting one with the same problem in I can also find quite a lot of posts about this on Reddit and a few on other sites so I'm certainly not the only one having this problem.

I updated the firmware on the controllers or checked how they functioned on a PC but that didn't change anything. And they didn't even came with the same console. This only seems to happen with the "A" button and the strange thing is all of the controllers have this I noticed that all three controllers have sort of a problem that when pressing the "A" button in certain angles it doesn't register that it's pressed. We own one Xbox One S that came with two controllers and one Xbox One X that came with one controller. I have a question regarding the Xbox One controllers.
